A man has been allegedly grabbed from behind, pushed into a tree and threatened with a taser at Haig Park in Canberra's inner north on Friday.

Police said the man was walking through the park in Braddon about 8:00am when he was attacked by a man wielding an electric pulse device.

It is alleged the offender then frisked the man, before running away on foot with a sum of cash and other stolen items.

The offender is described as wearing a dark, hooded jumper, denim jeans, light-coloured shoes, and has a black star tattoo on the back of one hand.

ACT Policing have appealed for public assistance to find the offender.
