Burghley Horse Trials: Michael Jung of Germany wins title
Germany's Olympic champion Michael Jung has won the Burghley Horse Trials for the first time, finishing 1.5 points ahead of New Zealand's Tim Price.
The pressure was on Jung in Sunday's showjumping after Price completed a clear round on Ringwood Sky Boy, leaving the German no room for error.
But Jung, aboard La Biosthetique Sam, also went clear to clinch the title.
Tina Cook, on Star Witness, was eighth, while fellow Briton William Fox-Pitt was back in 10th on Fernhill Pimms.
Jung and six-time Burghley winner Fox-Pitt had shared the lead after Friday's dressage stage, but Jung forged ahead to establish that narrow lead over Price following Saturday's cross-country.
The 33-year-old went on to become the first German to win the Lincolnshire event - and is already the only rider in history to hold Olympic, world and European titles at the same time.

Four faults in the final showjumping round prevented Price's wife Jonelle from joining her husband in the top three, as Australia's Christopher Burton finished third and fourth on his two mounts.
Later this week, Jung will defend his European Championships title at Blair Castle in Scotland.
