England's Luke Donald and Ian Poulter are two shots off the lead after the first round at the Deutsche Bank Open.
Donald hit six birdies, while Poulter did not drop a shot as the pair shot four-under-par rounds of 67 to take a share of second place behind South Africa's Brendon de Jonge in Chicago.
Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy three-putted at the ninth, his final hole, to end with back-to-back bogeys for a 70.
But Jordan Spieth is 10 strokes behind after a four-over par 75.
The American, who won the first two majors of the year, fired eight bogeys.
US Open champion Jason Day is in contention after the Australian's opening round of 68, left him three shots behind the leader.
